Thin Film Electronics announces shipment of more than 5 million EAS tags in 2018-Q2

The company said the start of roll-to-roll NFC production remains on target for end of 2018-Q3

Thin Film Electronics (Thinfilm) has announced the company has shipped more than 5 million EAS (electronic article surveillance) anti-theft tags to its partners during 2018-Q2.

The 2018-Q2 shipments included the first volume orders earmarked for use in the denims category. Thinfilm expects a significant increase in demand for EAS tags during the second half of 2018.

Thinfilm also said they are continuing to make progress in the installation and commissioning of its roll-based line for the production of NFC tags.

The first NFC-specific equipment is now onsite in San Jose and installation is underway. There are no material delays, and the Company expects initial roll-to-roll production of NFC to begin by the end of 2018-Q3 in line with previously communicated plans.
