JOLED has announced they have started offering 21.6-inch 4K high-resolution OLED panel samples produced using the "printing" method to ASUSTeK Computers - a Taiwan-based international computer hardware and consumer electronics company.

JOLED said their OLED display panel will be used for "ASUS ProArt PQ22UC" - a professional monitor that ASUS plans to unveil at CES 2018.

According to the announcement by Asus the ProArt PQ22UC, a 21.6-inch OLED monitor with a massive 3,840 x 2,160 pixels resolution, and HDR compatible. The screen is intended as a portable monitor and weighs about one kilogram. The 21.6" panel has a resolution of 204 pixels per inch, true 10-bit colour and 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space, and boasts a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

About printing OLED panels Characterised by their simple structure, ultra-thin profile, and light weight, OLED panels are gaining attention as next-generation displays that can deliver superb picture quality.

The printing method, which is one of the methods for manufacturing OLED panels, is a technology in which OLED materials are applied to the substrate through a printing technique to form an electroluminescent (EL) layer.

Due to the simplicity of the production process, it is expected that this technology will be easily adaptable to OLED production in various screen sizes.

JOLED plans to popularise its printing OLED panels in the medium-sized OLED market in which the current mainstream chemical vapour deposition method is considered difficult to use.
