Blackbody and Cibicworkshop presented at the recently held Milano design Week 2013 a new OLED lighting product - Bonzai. The new lamp design makes use of round OLED lighting panels, and combines environmentally-friendy high-tech lighting and artisan craftsmanship. Blackbody OLED are produced in France.

Bonzai is the result of on-going collaboration between Cibicworkshop and Blackbody. Their first experimentation and research on design and technology "Wonderoled" was presented in 2012 as an exhibit at Triennale di Milano.

Each OLED panel are only 2 mm thick offering ultra-low enery absorbing, ultra flat, glare-free, and heat-free illuminations. The panles have a lifetime of 20,000 hours life. According to the designers OLED lighting is expected to radically reinvent home lighting.

Bonzai techncial specifications

  • The Bonzai lamp uses 12 circular OLED lighting panels
  • The panels are made by Blackbody
  • The panels are 5.8 cm in diameter
  • The lamp has a colour temperature of 3000K
  • The lamp has an efficiency of 25 lm/W
  • The lamp is dimmable
  • The lamp has a brightness of 2000 cd/m2
