Philips announces brighter OLED panels

New brighter OLED panels produce 200lm at 6,500 cd/m2

11 Apr 2013 | Editor

Philips has announced that the OLED panels GL350 are now available at higher brightness. The new additions can be operated at 6,500 cd/m2 compared to 4,000 cd/m2 for the "standard" GL350 panels. The new GL350 OLED panels will have an output of 200 lm.

The brighter OLED panel costs are expected to be around 150 eur one-off price. The new panels will be availble in Q3 2013

Operating the GL350 OLED panels at higher brightnesses means efficiency and lifetmes will be lower, at 6,500 cd/m2 efficiency will be about 40lm/W and lifetimes about 6,500 hours. Standard GL350 panels operating at 4,000 cd/m2 have an efficiency of 45 lm/W and lifetimes about 10,000 hours.
