Doosan is rumored to be considering acquiring Novaled for US$270 - US$360 million
However, Novaled declined to comment on speculation and rumour
According to a news article by Reuters the South Korean conglomerate Doosan is considering acquiring Novaled AG, however at present there has been no official announcement from either Doosan nor Novaled.
The original source for the news appears to be the South Korean newswire Money Today which stated that Doosan was close to acquiring 100 percent of Novaled for an estimated 300-400 billion won ($270-360 million), However, it cited an unnamed source attached to the deal as the source of the information.
A spokesperson for Novaled said, "that due to our ongoing IPO process there have been a lot of rumors going around during the last couple of months." The spokesperson added, "Novaled cannot and does not want to comment on rumors."
In March 2012 (exactly one year agoo) Novaled filed to IPO on Nasdaq but since then there has been no futher indication if or when Novaled would complete the IPO. If the market conditions are not suitable for an IPO then a trade sale seems to be a viable alternative. Novaled has receieved significant backing in the past and investors are now likely wanting to seek a return on their investment. An outright sale would certaintly be beneficial to the founders of the company, and staff with share options
