Acuity Brands, Inc. has announced the OLED Marker Light Series concept luminaires, offering a new approach for decorative, orientation and low-level illumination.
According to Acuity Brands these OLED luminaires can create a "directional beacon" in high traffic areas, add visual appeal, provide subtle orientation along a movement path and provide low-level illumination in critical care areas as part of a 24-hour lighting scheme, benefiting both patients and their caregivers.
The concept luminaire series, featuring OLED panels from OLEDWorks, demonstrates use of an amber OLED at a 590 nm peak, and fixed luminance of 600 cd/m2, making the lighting solution ideal for night lighting in healthcare applications.
Pete Shannin, Acuity Brands General Manager and Vice President, OLED Business Group, said, "These products clearly demonstrate the potential of OLED lighting for critical care areas, and how OLED luminaires can be applied in corporate, hospitality, healthcare and residential lighting interior applications." Pete added, "The OLED Marker Light Series provides an integrated solution with distinctive design statements that demonstrate the value of OLED, including a minimalist form factor, glare-free light and design freedom achievable only through OLED lighting. As we continue to develop our OLED lighting portfolio of products working with the world’s leading OLED lighting technology suppliers, we are excited to work with OLEDWorks, a leading North American manufacturer of OLED lighting technology."
David DeJoy, Co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of OLEDWorks, said, "OLED amber lights uniquely provide low glare, naturally diffuse light, and are free of blue wavelengths that disrupt circadian rhythms, making these products specifically well-suited for the needs of the healthcare market." David added, "OLEDWorks is pleased to grow its collaboration with Acuity Brands Lighting. Our joint efforts will create the exceptionally pure light experience designers have previously only imagined. Acuity Brands’ leadership role in design innovation and system integration combined with OLEDWorks’ affordable OLED light engines will hasten adoption of OLED lighting and its related energy saving and design benefits."
