According to a DisplayBank IHS global shipments of AM-OLED panels reached 53 million units in the second quarter of 2013, with total shipment area equivalent to 341,000m2.
The data appears to reflect a surge in the shipments of 4.99-inch panels with the introduction of the Galaxy S4 of Samsung Electronics during the same period. The second quarter results represented a 16.5% growth from the previous quarter in terms of shipment volume. When compared with the same period of last year shipment volumes have increased by 41.2%.

According to the DisplayBank analysis the 4.99-inch panels - designed for the Samsung Galaxy S4 - are expected to continue to account for the largest portion of panel shipments in the third quarter. Shipments of 4.8-inch panels for use in the Galaxy S3, which was released last year, are expected to maintain the second-quarter’s volume.
By comparison 55-inch panel shipments in the second quarter increased rapidly - up 55.9% - when compared to the previous quarter, which is largely driven by the launch of 55-inch curved OLED TV by both Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics
