Mitsubishi Chemical and Pioneer have announced the formation of MC Pioneer OLED Lighting a new business focused on the sales and marketing of OLED Lighting panels produced by the companies. It is expected that bringing together their sales and marketing will accelerate the development of news products and applications
According to the announcement this new venture builds on the longer-term relationship between the two companies and the manufacturing business Pioneer Lighting formed in February 2013 (see Pioneer establishes OLED lighting company)
The companies have also developed a thin film coating processes suitable for depositing the light emission layer, which the companies believe will provide a significant reduction in manufacturing costs. This belief is based on the successful development of OLED panels produced by this coating in June 2012.
The companies plans to enter mass production in 2014.
