Mercedes-Benz set to adopt OLED taillights in high-end S-Class

At the forthcoming IAA Mercedes is set to showcase OLED taillights on the new S-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser video on Youtube showing OLED taillights to be showcased at the forthcoming IAA 2017 automotive exhibition in Frankfurt.

The 33 individually controllable OLED lights form a unique and stylist taillight and will be shown on Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé and Cabriolet cars.

According Business Korea LG Display is in discussions with several Germany automotive manufacturers - namely - Mercedes Benz, Audi and Volkswagen.

The report suggests the OLED lighting panels will be produced at LG Display's upcoming Gen-5 OLED lighting fab. LG Display is expected to begin low-volume production in the immediate future, and aims to ramp-up production to 15,000 monthly substrates by the end of 2017.
