Panasonic joins Solliance on perovskite R2R production research programme

Panasonic will conduct feasibility studies on the possibility of large scale roll-to-roll production of printed perovskite photovoltaics

Solliance has announced that Panasonic Corporation has joined a research program focused on the development of roll-to-roll manufacturing processes aimed at large scale production of flexible perovskite solar cells as one of the industrial partners.

Research will be carried out at the Solliance pilot production facilities on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and in the research facilities of imec in Leuven, Belgium.

Solliance is active in the field of thin film photovoltaic solar energy and provides state of the art laboratories and pilot production lines which are jointly used for research programs.

The agreement gives Panasonic access to the "world's best processing equipment and expertise" suited to the development of its revolutionary Perovskite Solar Cell (PSC) technology on flexible substrates.

Panasonic will conduct the feasibility studies on the possibility of large scale roll-to-roll production of printed PSCs under this program. This partnership is expected to create the industry's most technically capable and commercially focused effort to roll out this next generation technology.

Panasonic has been industrial partner in several of imec’s research programs since 2004 and in the ‘large area flexible electronics program’ at Holst Centre since 2009, the latter focusing amongst others on R2R production technologies, and intends to build on the capabilities and experience that has been developed so far.
