According to news reports from Digitimes and Korea-based ET News despite many display panel manufacturers seeing a slowdown in orders to China during the fourth quarter of 2015 due to increased competition in the market, Korea-based panel makers including Samsung Display and LG Display are seeing orders for small- to medium-size OLED panels increase largely due to demand for high-end smartphones.

The reports said that Samsung will see its OLED display shipments to China increase six-fold in the fourth quarter compared with the four million it shipped in the first quarter of 2015 due to orders from vendors such as Huawei Device aggressively tackling the high-end smartphone market.

Other China vendors such as Vivo, Oppo and ZTE are increasing orders for OLED panels in addition to LCD panels despite China panel manufacturers beginning to ramp-up new capacity, which is expected to see Korea panel manufacturers of small- to medium-size panels operating at near full capacity during the fourth quarter of 2015.

Approximately 30% of smartphones released in 2016 are expected to be equipped with AMOLED panels, according to industry estimates.
