JOLED begins operations with aim to produce 10- to 20-inch OLED panels in 2017

According to news reported by Digitimes JOLED has formally announced they have begun operations as of the 5th January 2015. The company is reported to be planning to start initial production of 10-inch to 20-inch OLED panels as early as H2 2016, with full production taking place in H2 2017.

Although no further details were released the panel size seems to suggest that OLED panels may finally be heading to the desktop and laptop/notebook market.

JOLED was formed in 2014 by Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), Japan Display (JDI), Sony, and Panasonic - (see Innovation Network, Japan Display, Sony and Panasonic form new company - JOLED Inc). Roughly 260 employees are currently employed at the operation, in which INCJ holds a 75% stake followed by JDI at 15%, and Sony and Panasonic each at 5%.
